Lantria

Lantria is a world defined by its vast, hard to navigate oceans. It is said that when Ovina, goddess of the sea, saw what the first "explorers" did to natives of other continents, she cursed the seas so that no army would ever cross the oceans to enslave innocents.   Long distance sea travel became so risky that ancient empires soon learned that it was not worth the attempt and, for better or worse, rose and fell without ever expanding beyond their native continents. Most Lantrian folklore is replete with stories of gigantic sea storms, endless mists and the occasional sea monster.   In the last decades, storms seem to have lost strength and daring explorers have braved them and survived. Scholars are predicting an end to the Curse of the Mists in the next century and the world won't ever be the same.
