Bast Oligarchy

Bast is home to slavers and miners - slaving is a form of prestige with each slave a person owns gains them a vote. Bast is one of the rare places where mining will find metal making it The Oligarchs of Bast spend their days watching over slaves and their nights enjoying their profits. It is located on the northern tip of Cascia on fertile land with rivers and bordering a mountain range and separating them from a wide desert and escaped slaves.

Structure

It is run by oligarchs who get votes on matters based on how many slaves they own. The main ways to get more slaves is through victory in battle or purchasing them, usually slowly with working on the Terrace Farms, or faster by using them in a harder life in mining.

Demography and Population

It has 40,000 of the The First People and 2,250,000 Wretches. Most of the people live in the large cities with few in the wilderness between.

Territories

The Bast Oligarchy is primarily mountains and plains, claiming and area of 116,000 km squared. It's southern border is marked by a river shared with Al Renya.

Military

While Dost is considered a massive problem, a large amount of the military of Bast spends its time posturing on the border of Al Renya. It is considered of the highest priority that Al Renya not decide to get into the conflict with Dost since either way Bast would most likely lose land. Bast likes to have their forces, armies called Shimmering Hosts, show off their abundance of metal so the border guard is heavily armoured.

Agriculture & Industry

There are two large terrace farms that supply most of the food for the nation. They grow mainly maize and potatoes. Slaves are used to farm these. The two main industries of Bast are mining and building opulent palaces. Large scale labour projects are a specialty of the Bast Oligarchy and extend to infrastructure like roads.

Education

Education is provided in large schools and some degree will extend to all castes. Both private schools for the oligarchs exist but also large public schools are found in areas for the Wretches.
