History

Centuries ago an elf left his homeland and elven ancestry to settle among humans, being not particularly well liked or affluent among his peers, but a billy big knobs among humans whose capitalist notions intrigued him. Less high minded than most elves, he was very much corrupted by human pursuits of greed and lust and had a couple of human wives over the remaining decades of his life, being old by elven standards when he left to build a fortune among humans. He had many descendants who spread themselves out over the continent, one of note being Edith’s great grandfather Elon Kandie, who settled on a modest piece of land just North of the split mountains. With his inheritance, which despite being split among so many half siblings was still a princely sum, he built a plantation. Shrewd and intelligent, he grew his business over his life, creating a small empire of agriculture and mining to which future generations have only added. They have extensive farmland, mines to the south and two quarries opened in the last century as industry in the cities began to require sand and other such materials for manufacturing purposes.   Fast forward say two hundred years and the town of Kanton is a bustling little hub. On a river and not far from major roads, what started as a few houses for the plantation workers has grown into a neat and well funded large town. Kandie and his heirs built schools, doctors surgeries, a town hall and other amenities.
