Gamma Iridium

Gamma Iriduim is a metal alloy with the rugged consistency of limestone, mostly milky white but presents ocasional spiky blue and green protrusions, but glows faintly in metallic multicolored patterns in dark. It is deposited in the Fang Caverns of the Lachtvern Archipelago in stalactite like formations, giving the caves their name. It has the uncanny ability to constantly emmit gamma radiation without decreasing it's mass or decaying into a different material, but only when present above a critical amount depending on evironment properties. This is partly due to the presence of Blue Steel in its composition. This property is the reason why the Wenghians have settled the islands as it provides a constant supply of energy for their radiotropic metabolisms.

Properties

Material Characteristics

White with spicky veins of green and blue with the consistency of limestone.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The substance is warm to the touch. It is non-flammable but may become catastrophically explosive under high pressures.

Geology & Geography

A few pockets of the material can be found around the earth. It is present in large quantities in the Fang Caverns of the Lachtvern islands.

Origin & Source

Deposited in stalactite like formations.

Life & Expiration

Its half life increases according to the amount present. Above a critical mass dependent on environment conditions, its half life is infinite, despite continued gamma emissions.
Taste
Tastes dusty with a slight electric tingling. Licking by non-wenghians not recomended.
Color
White with green and blue veins
