Magic (System)
Participants who want to use magic in fights need an additional resource besides Action Points: Elemental Crystals. These Crystals are an advanced form of Mana, and therefore can be referred to as Mana. Each Elemental Crystal has one elemental trait, a specific identifical color and a specific elemental symbol.
Elemental Crystals are usually displayed as physical cards. Those cards are stored in a deck. At the beginning of a participants turn, that participant draws 3 Elemental Cards from their deck into his hand. Cards from the hand can be played faced up into the participants pool. This action has 0 AP cost and can only be performed at a participants own turn.
Only cards lying in the pool can be used for abilities. The pool can hold a maximum of 5 cards. If a card is used for an ability, the card is turned around. A faced down card cannot be used until its regenerated. Elemental Cards usually regenerates at the start of ones own turn. If a card is used for an ability having a duration over time, the card regenerates once the ability has ended.
Elemental Cards can be used differently. The two major usages are ability cost and ability enhancement. If an Elemental Card is used to cover ability costs, it cannot be used for ability enhancement at the same time.
An ability has a maximum cost of 3 Elemental Crystals and a maximum of 3 Elemental Crystals can be used to enhance a ability. Due to the pool limitation, a maximum of 5 Elemental Cards can be used for one ability.
