Laendoryss

The Kingdom of Laendoryss was once a land of breathtaking beauty and abundance. Her people lived in peace and harmony, undisturbed for generations. Songs were sung of its champions and their heroic accomplishments. Great buildings were erected as monuments to the gods and the Daughters of Avenia, the spiritual leaders who were entrusted to carry out their divine will and almighty wisdom.   From high in the frost-capped Vankas Mountains in the north to the river valley capital of D'Asheilon, the westward port of Eriphen to the rich mining colony of Niedernnau to the south, trade was high, foreign relations were strong and stable, and life itself was generally rather carefree and splendid. Then then trouble brewed across the land, growing more and more terrible over time. Until finally, centuries of peace and prosperity were shattered as the Great War began, pitting brother against brother, friend against friend, and thrusting Laendoryss into an age of darkness and despair.   Naturally, folks turned to the Daughters for hope and salvation. Others horded whatever wealth and resources they could lay claim to and guarded them fiercely. But amidst all the chaos and devastation, a rumor was born from the ashes. Despite the authorities’ promises to the contrary, a belief arose that a man would come, a savior that would reunite the kingdom by restoring the mysterious Order of the Syrin, the chosen keepers of the unique and magical gift of song. He would lead them and usher them back to their pure and benevolent glory.
