Maybury

South past the Ghost Tower and slightly to the west is the small town of Maybury. It is a quiet coastal town oftentimes covered by mist from the sea. It is overseen by the Lord Mayor Castellanos Oratore. The Town enjoys peace and quiet, and is surrounded by large walls that keep out the sea during typhoon season. Due to its coastal hillside view, The town is something of a tourist attraction with many nobles establishing their vacation homes on its hill or near the coastline.

Government

A Noble council made of the heads of the Ruling noble houses runs the town, overseeing its defenses, political sphere, finances, and militant forces   In exchange, A secondary Public Council made up of prominent and well-respected members of society keeps the Noble Council in check with the power to establish their own volunteer militia, organized guilds, and supervision of day-to-day necessities.   Laws are established when both councils can come to an agreement over what is good for the town as a whole, with a neutral 3rd-party to oversee the agreement. These are almost always members of the Church of Naneth, whose beliefs require them to maintain an impartial view over all things.   A Lord Mayor, elected by both councils by majority vote, presides over both and serves as political figurehead, ambassador, and liaison to foreign dignitaries and officials.

Defences

The town is surrounded by 10 ft. high walls made of solid stone and separates it from the port on its west side. Its defenses include vantage towers armed with ballistae with a standing regiment of guards at each wall at all times. There are only 2 gates that allow entry and exit from town, one north and one south and both gates are furnished with wrought-iron reinforcements, bars, and portcullises.

Infrastructure

Maybury's central infrastructure relies on its sea trade. Thus, they have a strong and stable port established in order to ply their trade and receive imports and exports. Their roads are paved with cobblestone to allow expedient travel to and fro.

Assets

Maybury thrives off its sea trade, specifically in the unique species of fish that propagate in its nearby waters. However, its star resource would be the unique material, Umbrawood, harvested in the vicinity of the Ghost Tower. Due to its unique properties and difficult methods of procurement, Umbrawood objects and equipment fetch a high price locally and overseas.
