Ope

A ancient henge of stones used by the Bka Culture. They were religious sites of the these peoples and were used like temples of today. The Bka Peoples would worship certain unknown divines and would bury the dead in the surround area, occasionally in mounds and mostly just in deep burial chambers. Magical bindings were occasionally used by some Bka to make the structures stronger and to ward off unwanted visitors or unbelievers. Is due to this that adventures coming to these Opes should be wary, as they may trigger one of these magical incantations.

Purpose / Function

They were believed to be used for religious purposes. What Divines they worshiped is unknown. It is also known that certain people were buried in some Opes as they have found various burial bounds scattered around the area of these sites. There has been one known Ope that has a mass grave, but little is known of this Ope and some say that it is fiction.

Architecture

The small topped stones were made of Blue Stone from the inner valleys of the Mid'ridgelands. The Stones that would be placed and stuck in the ground were grey stones that were mined and hulled from the foothills in the areas around the mountains. Some Opes have wooden structures too, which shows that magical bindings were used to keep them stronger, and this would explain why they have yet to be rotted away.

History

The Opes were first studied by the Guilda Histor in 123CE, but the Ashgarians did do some studies on the Opes back in the 8,800s before they left the Isles due to their collapse. Many of these Studies by the Ashgarians have yet to be looked into the Guilda Histor...
