Kutirya The world is an ancient world and yet her people are young.

Kutirya. An ancient world that's been through a lot. Created by gods seeking to make a safe space for themselves, it has seen empires come and go, war be waged, and civilisations decimated, only for life to start anew.

The current era begins with The Sunder, when an event involving powerful magic caused the ley lines around the world to explode with cataclysmic force, almost wiping out every living thing. Only thousands of years later are the people beginning to form cultures and civilisations that once more span the globe.
Of course, they are slowed down by the innate danger of this new entity that is their planet. When the physical body of the world was ripped apart, some inner thing, a spirit-form, was also torn. Left soulless, the planet was a void that things of shadow and malice were all too eager to fill. A small part of that soul was returned, by chance, when a hidden city came back from the demi-plane where its heroes had transported it to ride out the storm. That soul fragment is allowing beings of light and life to flourish again, but the journey is still hard and harsh. Heroes are needed everywhere.
