Zhethrh'ithar

Written by Agent Serro

Long before the age of men, elves and dwarves during the early stages of the world existed three ancient races. Becoming known as vampire, werewolf and the Zhethrh'ithar (‘daimon’ in the common language or common slang of 'cultist'). These three races have also been fighting a secret war against one another since the fall of the Zhethrh'ithar.

Zhethrh'ithar closely translated into ‘daimon’ in the common language, commonly referred to as ‘occultist’ due the Zhethrh'ithar monks almost always being the first ones into new areas. This race is said to be the first original race in this world, in the beginning they were very peaceful being more about exploring and learning. As they become more advanced in their learning and understanding, they start to seek out a deeper desire to believe in something greater than themselves. During this golden age of peace and advancement is when they first discovered means to make contact with an unknown, all-powerful entity that was incomprehensible to them. Soft whispers of promises came to them, offering help of understanding and a lifelong paradise world of mutual peace. Being the only race in the world, they were rather naive and did not fully comprehend lies and dissection very well.
Over the course of many long years, they developed an understanding of religion making this soft whispering voice their one and only God. Temples were made in his honor; research was quickly taking them into a higher understanding of technology as their God whispered to them ideas of building an advanced machine that would allow their God to be able to visit their peaceful world and coincide with them in blissful harmony. An enormous round portal gate a mile in diameter was finally built floating on top of their largest ocean. Using lost technology, they were able to build what their God wanted and needed, being powered by unimaginable amounts of energy.
On their biggest holy day, the gate was activated with much rejoicing until the sleeping god emerged from the portal. Rejoicing quickly turned into screams of madness, horror and suffering. The ocean turned to blood, then slowly boiled away leaving a desert wasteland of no life. All that witnessed the sleeping god were cursed, driven mad and swore themselves to him. The once peaceful race turned cruel, vicious and found great enjoyment in torturing others.
The sleeping God had ticked them all, laughing at their naive stupidity. Being released into the world, he changed the race into what he wanted and forced them all into worshiping him. As he walked the world, the land changed around him. Insanity was now the new normal, things were permanently changed across the lands. Shortly afterwards the sleeping God brought into existence other races to serve him including elves, dwarves, halflings, orcs and all the others. This was merely done to have playthings to torment and to generate even more negative energy which the sleeping god lives off.
Zhethrh'ithar society became caste based, as they were born being medically altered to better fit their predetermined caste. The occultist monks were the first caste to be created, being magically changed into devoted monks of the sleeping God. Not all castes are yet known but so far religious, leadership, warrior and researchers are known to be part of their society castes. Being altered, cursed and changed by the sleeping God they never once questioned anything only blindly believing in their savior. They, being gifted with powers from the sleeping god, quickly conquered the lands, making all other races into their slaves and playthings. For thousands of years, they ruled by fear and cruel treatments of others. They grew stronger, made horrible advancements in the medical fields and stopped all together wasting their time on other areas of study like history, philosophy, arts and anything that did not serve the sleeping god.
After the sleeping God was laid to sleep on the bottom of the ocean floor by the Shinzoku Gods, the Zhethrh'ithar for the first time were disconnected from the sleeping god’s influence. A large number of them went into a mad suicidal rage and large numbers of them were killed off and it was during this time that the humans started their revolution seeing their once chance. After a few hundred years of continuous revolting and fighting, the surviving races were able to escape out into the vast ocean of the world. Now the Zhethrh'ithar had no God to tell them what to do and had no slaves to take care of them so even more of their numbers were lost to death.
The few surviving Zhethrh'ithar started to once again think on their own, picking up the broken pieces of their society and started rebuilding. They continued with their rebuilding of their collapsed kingdom, making changes in their research and development. Becoming more aware of there now a totally different race then they once were and unable to go back to their peaceful ways. They did the best they could to move on, but they all felt that deep missing link to the sleeping god and also felt that overwhelming anger towards the other races for causing their kingdom to collapse like it did.
They are now divided among those that wish to awaken the sleeping god to regain their powers and then a smaller group that wishes to make contact with the other races thinking that the younger races could maybe help them rebuild into a better, more peaceful society ensuring the sleeping god never awakens. Even now the two groups move into the region with their secret goals and agendas. The first contact was their old enemies the vampires and werewolves whom though it a trick that a smaller group wanted to join with them and even now fight a secret war outside of the view of the general public.
