Lyppa

Written by Agent Serro

Lyppa is one of the many monks that resides in Norbury but she even at a younger age is one of the most dedicated monks you can possibly find at Norbury. Being a female forest gnome made things rather challenging for her in the beginning, but for Lyppa that was fine because she always enjoyed a good challenge.   She is strong willed, independent and has never backed down from anything in her life. When she was a child, she always was viewed as a problem child due to her hot-headed attitude and her ability of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Most of her childhood fights were never about her trying to push the other children around, it was more her either sticking up for herself or defending the other children.   Coming from a loving family and stable home, her father always had high hopes of his daughter following in his footsteps to become a tinkerer. Unfortunately, she lacked any and all mechanical aptitude towards tinkering, not even able to make the simplest of gnomish items. She then tried to learn her mother's craft of alchemy but once again, she did not have any knack for it.   While still young, she was visiting Gildenvale on vacation with her family. While wandering the town on her own, she came across a handful of drunk men harassing a young pretty merchant and raced to her aid. Without any thought, no hesitation Lypaa jumped into the middle of what was going on, standing on her tippy toes with her finger in their faces telling them to back off. One of the drunken men pushed Lyppa to the ground with a hard shove, as the drunks were laughing, she jumped up without warning and attacked them all at once. One of the people passing by witnessed this taking place, he quickly knocked out the men with a flurry of fast fist blows. He was a Norbury monk here on ale business, but he was so taken with this tiny little girl with her actions. After making sure the merchant was ok and notifying the imperial guards, the monk walked Lyppa back to her parents to ensure her safety.   After a few months had passed, the monk came to visit her in her hometown of Tilmere. Explaining to her parents that he would like to take Lyppa into the Norbury Monastery and train her in the ways of being a monk. Her parents were greatly surprised but agreed to this arrangement hoping that Lyppa would finally find what she was good at. After a few days of Lyppa and the monk being together, she grew even more interested in the monk and set her mind to being one of the best monks ever to make him proud of her.   The first few years at the monastery were not easy on Lyppa, all of the other monks were so much bigger and mostly males. She never once let it slow her down, she was always the first one up before the sunrise to practice and she was always the last one to stop practice after sunset. Out of all the monks, she was the most dedicated and she studied harder than the other young monks. The greatest pleasure she had ever felt in her life was being able to punch harder than someone twice her size. She trained ever so hard, always spending many hours per day practicing her punch until she got to the point of being able to crack stones with her bare knuckles.   Even to this day, she will never miss a chance to practice, to work out and to exercise her punching abilities. She is overly obsessed with her workout and practice routines, even becoming upset about missing a session. No matter where she is or what she is doing, she will find a way to exercise, practice and train herself at the same time. Due to her abilities the grand monk brought her into the way of mercy, finding it to best fit her. She had a big heart and took enjoyment in helping others, healing others and standing up for the weak.   Her personality is very laid back, has lots of patience, carefree attitude, smiles all the time and at peace with nature. Adorable, spunky, scapy redhead for sure. When someone cracks a short joke or looks down on her because of her being a gnomish monk, her temper can kick into high gear. She feels compelled to no end to demonstrate her power and strength, has been known to either knock holes in a brick wall or even overpower large knights with ease just to satisfy that urge to prove herself. May mercy be shown to those that don't take her seriously because she won't have any mercy for them.   She helps the monastery by being one of the unarmed trainers, helps with the brewery as most of the monks due and has taken to making sure all the plants and trees are well taken care of at the monastery. She enjoys drinking ale, showing off her unnatural strength, helping others, healing the injured but most of all she greatly enjoys her workout session. If players convince her that she won't miss any workouts and promise to spare her so she can keep practicing, it is possible the young monk may help players. At the cost of being a punching bag, she sometimes forgets her own strength and can hit a large target hard enough to knock them back 10 feet. So, when she spares with a player, at best they are going to get some lumps and bruises. Lyppa may break their bones, but she will make sure to heal them afterwards as nothing should ever interfere with her training.
