Bero Farfoot

Written by Agent Serro

Bero is a fun-loving prankster that has always delighted in jokes, puzzles and mischief ever since he was a small boy. It was no surprise to anyone when he started to get into the trickery cleric and bard trades as it was a perfect fit for Bero. He does have a good heart, normally means well but the problem is how easy it is for one of his harmless little jokes to get way out of hand. He is currently under watch for suspicious behavior by the Imperial Guards at Tilmere for more than a few of his pranks going out of hand.   Drinking, eating, gambling, playing games, making himself laugh are a few of his biggest enjoyments in life. He never misses the opportunity to get in a joke or to play a prank on someone, this does get him into lots of trouble but most times he can sweet talk his way out of trouble. He has become exceptionally gifted at talking to others, which sometimes allows him to get away with more than the average halfling. When he is not out pulling pranks on the townspeople, he can be found at the tavern earning drinks by playing his Lute. Even with having a bad reputation as a jokester, people will still line up to hear him play his music. Food, drink, games, pranks, jokes, music and laughter is the only life he knows, it is always the most important thing in life to Bero.   When there is an accident or some tragic event happening in or around town, he will show up to help with healing or doing what he can to lift spirits and make the suffering feel better. When he wants to, he's great for turning negative energy into positive energy which also has him in the sights of both the Mazoku and the Shinzoku. Bero wants no part of religion or such serious things like that, he merely wants to enjoy life to the fullest and along the way see how many different ways he can make himself laugh loudly.   He avoids conflict and violence but when he has no choice in the matter, he prefers having others do battle for him. While around others, he is well equipped to enhance others while making enemies weaker. If you're ever looking for someone in the group that can handle himself in sticky situations and needing to be prepared for the unexpected, then Bero makes for a mighty fine support role but that's only if the group can deal with his pranks and jokes. He normally does not leave Tilmere very often but if someone can convince him of the fun he will have, then his weakness kicks in forcing him to adventure out of town in search of fun and laughter.   If players can convince Bero that there is fun to be had, mischief waiting for him, there is plenty of ale and food, then it's possible that Bero will join up with the players helping them. The cost of his help comes at the expense of him always joking, pulling pranks and some of these can get really out of hand quickly. When traveling with Bero it is either free lodging at a tavern due to his amazing music or it's the group running away for their dear lives as the tavern burns down behind them due to a Bero prank going wrong. Its a 50/50 with him, sometimes he can be a great help and sometimes he can accidentally be a great hindrance.
