The Covenant of Ashes

The Covenant of Ashes- "Purveyors of Witchrock" is a Wretinridge guild specializing in the procurement and trade of Witchrock. Their work spans the gamut from transparent to secretive. They often subcontract maverick cartographers and adventurers to source the ore and typically believe 'the end justifies the means' regarding their research and interests, sometimes skirting the edge of what is legally permissible. The Covenant of Ashes insists upon vows of secrecy from its members and affiliates. Their administrative center is located in Windhall, with a subsidiary guild hall adjacent to the Silver Scales central reserve in Highgarden. The mages of The Collegium perpetually have numerous procurement contracts with the Covenant of Ashes.

While an upright guild trading in Kryllos' hottest commodity on the outside, behind closed doors they work with rebels, skyfaring pirates, and thieves. Greed drives corruption, condoning privateering, subterfuge, and theft alongside legitimate Wasteland collection expeditions.

Because sourcing Witchrock requires airship interdiction or travel down to the surface, the Covenant of Ashes is tightly connected to the Society of Wrights, Carpenters, and Joiners (Shipwrights) and the Privateers Compact - often issuing letters of marque to raid and plunder the airships of the Aetheria Dominion - with the understanding the privateer would declare their seizures and pay import taxes on their assessed value.
