Coinage, Trade, & Barter
Most commerce is conducted through trade and barter, particularly in more rural communities, though several currency systems are in use.
Silver Shields
These silver coins, commonly referred to as "Shields", take their name from the heraldic crest of Wretinridge. Each coin features a Wretin prominently displayed on one side, with the reverse bearing an outline of an anvil, symbolizing the city's mining history, symbolic of strength and craftsmanship. Each coin is stamped with seven reeded edges or milled grooves, representing the seven spires of The Collegium
Inscriptions further highlight their significance: the word "Sancta" is engraved on one side, honoring the Allfather of the One Faith, while the opposite side bears the word "Virtus", embodying the ideals of courage and character.
There are still scattered Waramunt Imperial Marks circulating, ancient gold coins minted by the Waramunt Imperium - stamped in gold with the image of Veremund, God of Law and Order.
During the Renaissance period, in the year 872, rulers of the Aetherian Dominion and the Skyfront Republic met in a grand and momentous trade council. The historic assembly, celebrated as the "Silver Summit", reached an accord. Silver was set as the standard for coinage (given that much of the world's gold remained in mines far below, on the now inhospitable surface.) This pivotal agreement paved the way for a new era of prosperity and cooperation.
Splinters and slivers of Witchrock known as Scrips are also highly valued and used in place of gold coins in the modern era.
