Personal history

Goleif was an assassin for hire, one of the best. He resonated young strength, equal parts fast and cunning. But that was a long time ago. Today, aches and pains threaten to overtake strength and size, and are doing so with a speed that he can no longer call upon. Instincts, however, are a hard thing to lose.

Phase One

My most significant professional failure has been my personal redemption. She was all that is beauty and depth, and I could not take her life. We ran, for years we ran, just long enough for a spark of hope to render us vulnerable. But they found us - I know now that there was no true escape but perhaps death. My wife and child died in fire and ash. Only the water that cools my steel saved me from a similar fate.

Aspect 3: Fatalistic - nothing to lose

Phase Two

Goose, although I didn't know his name then, happened upon me in the rubble - do doubt while browsing the structure for loot after the damage had been done. He pitied me, realizing what had taken place here, and carted me to the nearest inn with a week's lodging of coin in my tunic. As much as my history has spoken of one free from the chains of morality, I owe this man my life and I intend to see that debt paid.

Aspect 4: Bound to a code

Phase Three

These days I still bend steel with an artist's touch, and sometimes more than steel - much more. The halfling Talos brings me Elven artifacts, though the gods know where he gets them, and I can't resist the challenge of deconstruction regardless of his exorbitant fees. I've managed to create some... useful... tools from this technology that is both ancient and at the same time far advanced.
