Robonia

East of the evergreen slopes, There lies a clearing where the river Roaden intersects the shaded tops forest. This sleepy, secluded land is home to Robonian people. Though some small scattering live and work in the areas both north and south of the river, the bulk of Robonians live in the city itself. The city exists on an islet, surrounded by the Roaden river, with no bridge to the mainland. Due to a lack of available space, Robonia has become a dense weave of tightly crowded buildings. river canal, with no bridge to the mainland. Due to a lack of available space, Robonia has become a dense weave of tightly crowded buildings.
This condensed architecture is made all the more striking by the Robonian custom of painting their homes and workplaces in the official colour of their district. Even from a distance, the seven districts are clearly identifiable by the Gaudy colours of both the buildings themselves and the tangled web of bunting that permanently hangs between them. This ostentatious and divided palette has birthed the names "the painted city" and "The City of Seven Colours".
The buildings of the city are predominantly tall and timber framed, mottled with vines and dotted with slim windows and ornately decorated balconies. The southern districts are striated with canals and three tall bridges serve to connect the southern districts to the rest of the city. The northern districts are situated on a natural raise and are therefore mostly free of canals.
Nestled within the centre of these districts is the alabaster manor. Named for its distinct alabaster white colouring, meant to represent that it is of all the districts and none. This historical home for the lord and lady of Robonia cuts an isolated figure as the lone building encompassed within the grey barracks wall. Tall and well maintained, its towers are an easily recognisable landmark from most of the city   People and Culture
Robonians dress gaudily in bright colours, typically representative of their districts. Makeup and jewellery are common place, for both men and women and perfumes and soaps and are seen as much a necessity to the well off Robonian as bread or water. Tattoos or body art are almost completely avoided by the general citizens of Robonia as they are often used to designate ranked membership of specific guilds or groups. For example; floral tattoos representing high ranking membership of the entertainers guild (see inset) or astrological symbol tattoos representing tenured academics   Crime is punished harshly in Robonia with repeat offenders sentenced to time in the Dreadfort; a prison tower located on a tiny island off from the main city. Law and order is enforced by the grey guard, distinguishable by being the only people in Robonia conservatively dressed. Though Robonia has no real standing army, it can boast an extremely efficient and well trained town guard. Despite this harsh response to crime, the laws in Robonia are quite relaxed, with unmonitored imports and freedom of movement as well as legalised narcotics and prostitution.   The people of Robonia can be described as patriotic individualists. Though it may seem like an oxymoron for such a tight-knit community to be considered individualistic, Robonians believe strongly in the improvement of their community through the improvement of the self. They strive to avoid being seen as a burden and typically hide their perceived shortcomings or difficulties from others. They are known for the hyper competitive nature and their desire to publicly impress as a representative of their district or a representative of Robonia itself. This cultural obsession with self promotion and competition
