Summary

Like the Aetians, Maetians excel in strategy, and like the Morosians they excel in intellectual pursuits - apart from these cultures the Maetians have pioneered new artistic methods, including new arts of war.

History

Maetians as a culture began to emerge just decades after Morosia completed its dominion over the Aetian lands at the expense of the Seleutine Empire. By the time of the Alexian Empire, Maetians were the dominant regional culture. Maetians seem to have inherited the Aetian rivalry with the Poscaeans and the Morosian claim to conquest of their former territories. Much of the Maetians' history is yet to be told, for they have begun entering a golden age as of 850 AR.

Traditions

Maetians consider themselves both Morosian and Aetian and in large part to have inherited the legitimacy of both the Seleutine and Morosian Empires. These sentiments have resulted in the Alexian Empire's current foreign policy, and often the Empire's reasons for expansion.  Maetians possess less of the pompous attitudes of Morosians, and are more keen on even-handed approaches to diplomacy.   Maetians uphold Aetian festivals in the Morosian grand fashion. Their true meaning in the worship of the gods is all but lost. This is, in part, due to Dominion becoming the new state religion of the Alexian Empire and is a religion many Maetians flock to, to further distinguish themselves from Aetians.   The Aetian and Morosian tendencies of Column-making and pottery are upheld without question, but the styles of said columns and pottery also merged with Aomekionic traditions and culture. In fact, a small portion of Maetians are derived from Aetian and Aomekionic background rather than Aetian and Morosian.

Fantasy Additions

The Maetians are relatively unchanged, simply reacting to the fantastical elements around them. Slavery of foreign creatures has taken the place of typical slavery of humans. The Maetians are also prevalent fire-benders, where magic users exist.

The Maetians of the Alexian Empire created "Alexian Nightfire", which devastated enemies at sea and on land.
