Vodeia, Spirit of the Waves
"LANDWALKER. IN THE BEDLAM, HERE, YOU ARE NOT HERO. HERE YOU ARE PREY. AND PREY MUST PRAY."
Vodeia is the first Leviathan, and with her birth, she was gifted dominion over the sea. Though she often chooses to be smaller than her true size, at her true size, it would take roughly a day for a human to travel on foot from her nose to her tail. The churning waters of the Bedlam Ocean are her home and territory, and none challenge her supremacy; even water-dragons and other leviathans bend a metaphorical knee to her.
In point of fact, she has two duties as the Spirit of the Waves. First, in order to keep the August God's beloved landwalkers safe, she grapples with and consumes the city-sized swirls of mana that bubble up from the deepest, darkest corners of the ocean. Second, she must use her brute force to crush the abyssal machinations of the Deep Ones; those cephalic dwellers in the inky depths, oceanic cousins to Mind Flayers, would have long ago conquered the surface if not for her power.
Though not overly intelligent, she is aware of her stature and responsibility, and takes it seriously. But centuries ago, the number of incidents she had to quell began to grow quite large. In her frustration, she used her divine magic to birth a full pod of leviathans (some three dozen) to assist her in patrolling the waters of the Bedlam. She has therefore found herself with a great deal of free time to answer the prayers offered to her by sailors; she is capricious and easily bored, with a childlike cruelty, and is as likely to capsize a ship with a thought as she is to calm a raging storm. Even so, many appeal to her when the alternative is certain death in the maw of one of her children, and the power and freedom that she represents is exactly that which calls sailors to a dangerous life at sea.
