Glow Tech

Looking for a solution to Physical Darkness's near-total inability to be contained, Kostean scientists managed to discover and create a hard light technology that can solidify light and energy into tangible forms. Affectionately Glow Tech due to the glow that all forms of Glow tech create, Glow tech was quickly mass-produced and began being used across Kostea. Powerful but heavily power dependent, it may never replace traditional weaponry and static shielding but it has firmly cemented itself as an invaluable addition to more traditional technologies.

Defensive

When utilized for defensive properties, Glow tech can be used to form transparent shielding that is unbreakable as long as power remains supplied. If power is lost, a Glow Tech shield rapidly loses stability before dissolving entirely, becoming useless. Every time a Glow Tech shield is impacted or otherwise damaged, it loses stability and is weakened. If given a constant supply of power, this loss of stability is countered and no risk is presented. This is even capable of holding back and containing the destructive effects of Physical Darkness. Glow tech can also contain other energies and radiation, allowing protection from the non-lethal but sickening effects that close contact to Physical Darkness can induce.

Offensive

While created for defensive and containment purposes, Glow Tech has also been able to be utilized for offensive purposes. Glow Tech can be used to compress light and energy into bolts (aka lasers) that can then be fired at targets. These bolts are capable of holding their energy while in movement but instantly disperse in a small but forceful impact. In contrary to traditional firearms, Glow Tech bolts have difficulty penetrating a target but deliver a small shockwave when hitting a target, along with some heat. The small dispersal shockwave makes them effective for stopping moving targets in just a few hits. Despite their reduced penetration, Glow Tech can kill both humans and Darklings alike, but more shots are required than with traditional weaponry. Glow Tech bolts are also limited in distance, dissipating after a couple of feet. Their range, impact shockwave, and overall damage can be increased with an increased charge, though this requires more power.
