Malinei

For a demon to name a place "land of uncertainties", you'd really have to expect the worst. Never in all my travels have I seen a place to thoroughly varied in both geography and culture than the land of Malenei. I've asked many a merchant about this continent, and despite their worldliness, they all know next to jack-shit about this place. I'll be better off doing my own research. That is, if I don't get eaten by fey or mermaids or whatever the hell these bastards keep rambling about.
Deserts, swamps, tundras, and rain forests, all within such a relatively small area. It should be impossible, but the natives here regard it with hardly a second thought. "What? Haven't you seen giant, mirror-like steppes where you're from outlander?" Is almost verbatim what a dwarven caravan leader said to me once. You'd think I was the strangest thing here, the way these people speak to me. I suppose If I stay here long enough, I'll go just as crazy as they all have. The University genuinely doesn't pay me enough for this, but the sheer intrigue of uncovering the natural wonders of this land far outweighs the value of any gold they decide to toss my way.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for the alps with a group of pilgrims on their way to a city named Avesello. Apparently they make this journey every five years to worship at the cathedral there. Gorgeous place, I'm told. Directly on a glimmering bay, with sprawling vineyards and a glorious bizzar. I might visit some day, after my survey in the mountains. I pray I survive that long.
