Koldre

Koldre is a world of ebb and flow, of civilizations of men that have come and gone. Humanity is crumbling but holding fast in various pockets of geography across the continents. Poor resource management, greed, and destructive self-interest all plague the human realms. The Older Races have withdrawn into their enclaves atop mountains, along ranges of hills, within the great forests, or beneath them in vast underground caverns.   The monstrous races are on the rise and have kept human expansion in check. The Orcs and the Hobgoblins have carved confederacies and empires across much of Koldre. The last cradle of mankind lies within the civilizations of the great continent of Nbadzanye. There are other human nations, but many are on the brink of dissolution; their follies creating disastrous outcomes for their respective peoples. The greatest threat to the Nbadzanyans at this time is themselves, as many nations on the continent vie for resources, domination, or both.   The draconic civilizations have vanished millennia ago. Artifacts and ruins of their great works are found on a few continents (but not all), and are still a subject of debate with scholars of all races. Many sages and historians claim that dragons are extinct. Regardless, their legacy has significantly affected many of the races that struggle to survive and prosper across the world.   Occasionally, a strange power will arise, some with sinister agendas, others with motivations a bit more ambiguous. Such powers have been given names like The Unbreathing, The Dust Accursed, The Entities Beyond Reach, The Stygian Murk, The Forerunners of Annihilation, Those That Gift Madness, and a plethora of other titles.
