The Orya War

‘Orya’ is a type of crop native to Sadara, but is so versatile that it can survive in any climate with any conditions. This meant it could grow cycle-round. The plant can be made into a type of bread called orya bread, and the stalk can be used as a strong weaving material for baskets or bow and arrows. The Sadaran people relied heavily on orya plants, not just because they provided food and nourishment even in the hottest and the coldest times, but also because orya goods made up the majority of their trade exports to other Lands.   The Orya War began as a trade war during a time in which a famine broke out in downland Jahartah. Declaring a state of emergency, the Jahartan government declared a state of emergency and reached out to their Midland neighbour Sadara for some orya plants. Previously, these two Lands had bad blood between them due to countless fights and invasions in history, but a peace pact had been signed between them that said Sadara would trade orya bread with Jahartah, and Jahartah would trade firesalts. For a while things were fairly peaceful, but this was ruined when Sadara refused to give Jahartah the actual plant that would let them grow their own orya crops out of fear they would trade them with other Lands and diminish the value of Sadara’s main trade goods. Outraged and hungry, Jahartah invaded a small Sadaran village to take their crops themselves, but ended up killing two belvians and a teffling. Sadara declared war against Jahartah for spilling blood, and thus the Orya War began: a war fought between the Second-Eye Nation Alliance of Jahartah, Tagel, Wystell and (a reluctant) Cerillia and the Virtuous Blood Alliance of Sadara, Remalves and Aperlope. Arokei fought for them for a while but had to withdraw, and Falmora supplied them with food and Healers but refused to fight. Koreph remained neutral.
