When they left they numbered 3 million, but the journey reduced this to the 1 million souls who arrived at Songspire.
Plural is “Illumen”
They are happy in communities, but generally prefer either a solitary life or that of a mated pair. Produce single young, although twins or triplets are not uncommon (rarer than they were before the exile, though, one of the punishments by Belit).
The name of Illu’s vassal who led the march north is the Thorn (Illun). There is a new vassal each generation now named Illunvor, “The Thorn Reborn”. This has become the title of the ruler of the Illumen as well as the name of their capital. This makes them a theocracy. The symbol of the Illumen is a hare.
