Kitharea

Created by

Trees that carry cities, Canyons that hold entire civilisations. That is two things that can be found in Kitharea. A world of exotic beauty and wealth, it has been ruled for generations by the Gruten bloodline. A family of extraordinary bravery, they are said to be descended from the dragons that once roamed the world, with their hearts of gold and words of fire. Each   Kitharea, though vast, is not diverse in climate, with only five distinct areas. The bloody mountains which lie to the West are snow covered peaks of hard rock that hold mysteries that were hidden away by the ancestors, while the North is where you will find the Pathalage, the men of the trees. Who make their homes in the cities of Oak that have stood in the tree tops of the forests for hundreds of years. In the south the Skyra Ash desert is home to the last surviving dragons. Or so it is said, not much is known about the lands to the south, only rumours of beautiful people and dragons that burn the ground into ash. And the land of Gold in the East. Known for it's water source's that are said to be so pure they reflect the sun. Rich in precious stones and minerals, this is perhaps the richest part of Kitharea and home to the elves and dwarves. And finally the land of purity in which the King of all Kitharea resides. His son's rule over each distinct part of the land, but all report to him. The land of purity is said to be paved with marble and the stuff that souls are made of. Somewhere that most will never see, but all return to upon death.   The citizens of Kitharea, unlike their home, are diverse.   Elves who's skin ranges from obsidian black to as pale as the moonlight that they worship. They are most commonly found in the East because of their affinity to jewels and alchemy that can be achieved with the minerals and precious stones that can be found in the soil of the Golden city. They range from just taller than a typical dwarf to well over three meters high. Clothing differs depending on region, but one thing is the same. All females wear a silver circlet with an amethyst gem dangling down. This is to show their dedication to the Goddess of the moon and all men are expected to wear a black sash around the waist that is kept in place with a half moon broach. Elves, that do not identify as either or one biological gender are not expected to wear either of the ceremonial items, but are expected to have some sort of moon insignia on them at all times, most commonly found in a half moon necklace that can be worn by anybody.   Dwarves are another type of resident of Kitharea. Nobody knows, exactly where the dwarves came from. Some say they came from the ground, fashioned from the holy clay of their God Manikap, who they believed created the world with his pottery wheel. Dwarves stand (at their top height) between one meter 50 cm and one meter 35 cm at adult height. They are burn resistant and have been known to have an affinity towards spiritual and artistic jobs - because of their main God having made the world on a pottery wheel. Many Dwarves go into blacksmithing and it is said that if you have any item created by a dwarf it will last ten thousand years longer than that made by a human. Dwarves skin range is on the same spectrum as that of a humans. Dwarves are located either in the Golden city or in the Bloody Mountains.   Humans, are one of the minority groups in Kitharea. Coming from the distant land of Terra where their race is abundant. Humans have a skin range from extremely pale white skin to dark brown skin, meaning that compared to others they are limited in colour diversity. Humans live primarily in the Land of Purity and the Golden City, having talents and trades not native to Kitharea as Human's do not have a natural ability to use magic - unlike every other race on Kitharea- that work either as knights for royalty or as merchants and other human-only aspects of work.   Pathalage's are also called 'The Leaf people' for not much is known about them, except that they live in the trees in the North. Their skin reflect the colours of the leaves, being pale in the spring, dark green in the summer, orange and brown in the Autumn and sickly and a leather like colour in Winter. They have natural abilities in healing and nature magic, though are unable to do alchemy even with intense training. As so little is known about them no one knows of any religion that they may partake in.   Skyran's, is the name given to the people from the south of Kitharea who so rarely leave their region that nothing is known about them.   In the Land of Purity and in the Bloody Mountains there are schools that teach different types of magic and in the Golden city there is a school for alchemy.
