In the beginning, there was only Darkness. The Darkness was silence and no man uttered a word. Mute creatures were formed through the Darkness, lifeless husks that served the Darkness irrevocably, without question. There was no light, there was no true life; only the Darkness.   But in the Darkness, there grew words. It was Mial who spoke first; a woman who had been formed in the Darkness’ image. She spoke with such clarity and with such passion, that light was born. The light dispelled the Darkness, for a time, and the age of Man began.   Every 50 years, the Darkness seeks to take back the lands now known as Kindle. Every year, the Words of Mial are spoken to dispel the Darkness again. But, as time grew on, people forgot the truth of the words and the story became legend.   The words of Mial were soon considered too sacred to be read and the Scholars of Asiria locked the knowledge away to be studied. One night, in the cover of Darkness, the ancient text had been stolen and the Words of Mial were lost to the ages.   It has been over 200 years since the Words were read last and the ever growing Darkness is creeping into the last stronghold of Kindle.
