The Greater Werewolf

The Greater Werewolf is a nearly extinct species. It is now found only in the southern most parts of Isles of Nickle. It was thought to be extinct until 8192, when a village was attacked and completely destroyed. It was quite a shock when a whole village was wiped out by a species that was thought extinct. The event was recorded by a young carpenter by the name of Chris Cadiar. Here is an excerpt from his journal:

Tuesday, Sarfor 1, 8192
It was 9:42 when I first heard the wolves howling. The southeastern part of the village
is getting attacked. It is horrible. So horrible that I can not tell of it. I hear armed men marching past my house. I think they are trying to drive them out. I hear them fighting. They are farther north then I expected. They have stopped now. I hope
they beat off the wolves.

Wednesday, Sarfor 2, 8192
Last night went well. Our small military unit was able to drive the wolves out to the west.
Ten are reported dead, 16 wounded. The Mayor is having the attack looked into.
It is strange that so many wolves just attacked like that. But I have no time to write.
I may write tonight.

I hear the wolves again. I was in the pub this evening. This bunch of scientists from up north said they think
that those weren't normal wolves. They said they think that they were Werewolves. I don't
think so. They went extinct two hundred years ago! The wolves are attacking again! They are in the Market District, where I live. I hear screams from next door. I locked myself in my room. I hear them downstairs. I pushed my wardrobe against the door. The door is starting to open. I think they will get in. If anyone finds this tell my mothe

And with that it ends quite suddenly. The authorities are sure that the village was indeed destroyed by werewolves because only half of the people were found. No one survived. Cadiar's journal is the only known account of the disaster. The bite of a Werewolf contains a venom that turns the victim into a Differing Werewolf. A Differing Werewolf is a human who has been bitten by a True/Differing Werewolf. A Differing Werewolf transforms into a Werewolf every full moon. A True Werewolf is an animal. It stays in wolf form its entire life. The True Werewolf is a unintelligent being, wishing only to bite humans. The same goes for transformed Differing Werewolves. The Greater Werewolf is a species of creature, that is, a True Werewolf. It was thought that it was hunted to extinction due to its bad reputation.
A council was held in 8199 to decide what to do since it was found not to be extinct. A majority of the council wanted to kill the werewolves off. However, a few wanted to let them live and one oddball said, "We should not kill them off! It is not every day that you find that an extinct species still lives. We should help them prosper. We should take them all over the world!" but as everyone was against that, he was kicked out. In the end it was decided that they were to just be left alone. In the years that followed werewolves were allowed to grow, but were kept under control. They now prosper in the forest in the south of the Isles of Nickle.
