Tawkals (/taw'kals/)

The Tawkals or First Light was the first Vyka ever made. Created by a niskhi Magai whose identity has been lost to time, it was a one-of-a-kind weapon which later became a signature weapon for Vita-Touched.   After the death of its creator, the Tawkals was moved into the Grand Magai Temple's archives, as a critical part of Magai history. It remained there until the destruction of the Temple at the end of the Second Age, when the weapon was lost amongst the rubble, and ultimately destroyed.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Tawkals works like all vykas that came after it. Adapted from a commercial lyka, the builder added a tumnihup crystal, built into the emitter. Combined with the hard-light generator and battery already present, the weapon created a magic-infused blade, which could channel magic just as well as the tumnihup crystal itself.

History

The first vyka to exist, the Tawkals was created by a niskhi Magai who got inspired by the advanced hard-light knives known as lykas they saw in the galaxy. Already in the possession of a powerful tumnihup crystal, which could enhance a Vita-Touched's magical abilities greatly, they chose to combine the two, creating a magic-infused weapon that could channel their magic to unbelievable effect. The concept caught on, though finding suitable replacements for the crystal (as tumnihup crystals are rare, expensive, and dangerous) took a while. The weapon concept, later known as a vyka, became popular among all Vita-Touched, and still is, in the Fourth Age, despite the loss of the Tawkals itself.

Materials and Components

Like most lykas, the Tawkals is made out of alloyed metals, strong enough to hold up to the wear of regular use. Its creator also wrapped the handle is soft leather from their homeplanet, and added stringed beads to the end of the hilt.
