Peatreed (peet-reed)

Peatreed is the one and only recognized town nestled deep within the mysterious mega swamp of Kelt. Built entirely on a network of interconnected platforms. The swamps unstable bedrock and fluctuating water levels necessitated the verticality of Peatreed. The buildings are made of repurposed logs, random flora and magically enhanced materials which grow and shrink along with the bedrock.
The inhabitants of Peatreed have a certain affinity with the vyr of kelt, they have recently developed a unique bond with the vyr of the swamps allowing them to traverse the areas safely, they glow to assist in detecting hidden dangers and locate needed resources to keep the town alive. They are revered as guardian spirits who watch over their husbands and sons, aiding them in their endeavors and ensuring the town's survival. The inhabitants pay homage to these spirits through rituals and ceremonies, fostering a sense of connection and reverence within the community.
Peatreed's festivals are a sight to behold. The townsfolk celebrate the beauty and mysteries of the mega swamp through grand events filled with luminescent processions, vibrant costumes adorned with bioluminescent elements, and captivating performances that tell the stories of lost spirits and the town's connection with the vyr. These illuminated festivals attract visitors from far and wide, fostering a sense of community and joy within Peatreed.
Unfortunately rumor has it the vyr of the town have been agitated by something and have begun doing the opposite, leading people to deadly encounters, and the town is afraid that without the vyr to help they will end up like most of the towns in Kelt.
