Winds of Destruction and Growth

The Surging Bellows are the winds that bring life and destruction. The storm itself is a constant in the lives of the seraphiron. It deposits new minerals and metals, and one other very precious commodity. Water.   It seems strange that beings made of metal would need water. They do not drink and oil is much better for their personal maintenance. The water does not keep them alive, but it does provide a necessary building block for creation.   The seraphiron are creatures driven by the idea of perfection. This obsession leaks from the core of the planet herself.   So the surge happily obliges them. While the average winds are less than 60 kilometers per hour, a surge spikes them up to a staggering 200-300 kilometers per hour. This wind erodes everything in its path.   Metals dissolve, stone breaks apart, and the seraphiron are whittled to nothing. The ingenuity of seraphiron buildings lies primarily in the sheer numbers of layers they use. Stone and metals layered expertly to provide the building with the best chance of survival.   This constant erosion provides the seraphiron with the perfect opportunity for change. A new, freshly sanded city with each storm. While deadly, with proper preparation the surge can be a blessing.   The surge also brings an abundance of something miraculous. Etherealium. A metal that can be forged into life. This is the only method that the seraphiron have to create life. This is a metal that is capable of conducting both kinetic and life energy. A seraphiron that finds etherealium after a storm is considered blessed. This opportunity begins the ultimate creation. A child. Forged by their parent, and given life through intent.

Note:

This storm occurs randomly, but averages around 3-4 times a year. Etherealium can be found along the northern coast, but usually in small amounts. These are typically saved and used to help children grow. Determined seraphiron can potentially gather enough to start forging a child, but most wait to be blessed with a large chunk of the heavenly metal.
