The Hall of Doors
You cautiously walk over to the hallway, realizing that the walls are lined with old, worn down wooden doors. You try to grab the handle of one to pull it open, but the doors seem to be boarded up tight and some are bound with thick, black chains similar to the ones connected to the pedestal in the large entrance room.
You walk onward, rounding the curve to see a shiny, round object wedged in a small hole in the door. After a bit of prying at it's smooth surface, it pops out of the door and lands in your hand.
It is a teal bead, containing a small black swirl. As you stare at it, a chill comes over you like a freezing blanket, seeping through your coat and gently brushing the back of your neck. Something about this bead is off, but it can always be investigated later. You gently tuck it into your bag, deep into the most secure pocket to make sure it won't fall out and roll away.
You continue on your way, hearing nothing but the echo of your footsteps as you approach a small staircase that is covered with so much dust that the original stone is barely visible.
