Kastellian Planetary Defence Force.

The Kasteillan Planetary Defence Force make up the only military presence on the world, other than the Imperial Navy refueling yard and outpost that is in orbit.

Las carbines for support personnel and officers, 4 magazines per trooper.
Las pistol for Non combat roles and officers, 2 magazines per trooper.

Heavy Stubber, issued 1 per 10 man section; one trooper per section acts as loader/ammo bearer. Section leader is issued under slung grenade launcher for their Las rifle.

Grenades issued only for combat drills and in emergencies. specialist weapons issued only for combat drills and emergencies

Structure

1 regiment = 2 battalions
1 battalion = 9 Companies + battalion command cadre of 10 personnel
1 Company = 3 platoons + company command team of 5 personnel
1 platoon = 3 sections + platoon command team of 5 personnel
1 section = 10 personnel (can be broken down into 2, 5 man fire teams for patrolling and recon)

1 armoured regiment = 2 armoured battalion
1 armoured battalion = 9 armoured squadrons
1 armoured squadron = 3 tank troops + 1 squadron commander
1 tank troop = 2 tanks + 1 troop leader

Tactics

The PDF use a combined warfare doctrine, making best use of both infantry formations and armoued ones, especially on the mostly barren planet where typical mass assault or deep defence doctrines would not be possible

Training

PDF training is on par with the segmentum average, however as is the same for every world; the best troopers are soon recruited to the imperial guard so the PDF is often left with those that were not fit or able. this is evident in the quality of the enlisted and the leadership skill of the officer class

the infantry regiments make great use of mass transit trucks but also has access to the air power of the Imperial aerospace arm of the PDF in the form of arvus landers.

Auxilia

As is the norm with all imperial worlds that are in active warzones, the PDF maintains a large arsenal of small arms with which to equip a citizen militia should the need arise.

Upkeep

the Noble houses pay the majority of the PDF upkeep, the Noble house whom the Planetary Governor hails from often paying slightly more to insure loyalty from the PDF goes to the Governor's office as it should, not to serve the whims of the noble houses.

Recruitment

The PDF maintains a mostly volunteer recruitment policy, for the PDF is often the only way to not end up working in the promethium industry for many a young adult citizen. such a policy has served well as the tithe for imperial guard recruits is only required every 3 decades on Kastellia due to its main tithe of fuel. this ensures a good manpower pool that has plenty of time to recover after each tithe.

History

The origional name of the regiments that Saint Sabbat garrisoned the newly colonised Kastellia with have been lost. But what is known is that those soldiers formed the Planetary Defence Force for Kastellia and the way they fought is still the way that Kastellian regiments fight across the galaxy now.
The only time Kastellia has been threatened was during the fall of the Sabbat worlds to the ruinous powers. However the fighting during that dark time never reached Kastellia, thanks to the firm efforts of the Imperial Navy operating out of Ursa Majoris. As such the PDF has never fired a shot in anger.

Historical loyalties

The Noble house whom the Planetary Governor hails from pays slightly more than the other noble houses to insure loyalty from the PDF goes to the Governor's office as it should, not to serve the whims of the noble houses. It also doesn't hurt to remind the PDF who controls their pay.
