Gorik the Red’s Arena
Gorik the Red of Clan Flamebeard was legended as one of the greatest warriors of Clan Flamebeard or even Karak-Khan. When he was a young dwarf, he made his fame slaying terrible creatures in the Dragontooth Mountains. When he returned, he established the arena in the Temple District to pass his wisdom to others.
Today, Gorik the Red is 275 years old, and the arena has been around for a century. Gorik still holds the title as grand champion, none have challenged him for over a decade, either out of respect, or fear.
Purpose / Function
The arena serves as entertainment to the dwarves and visitors of Karak-Khan. Some fights include melee combatants or fierce untamed animals, but the arena is most famous for its’ events including elemental magics. It is a rite of passage in some fraternal organisations of the College of Four Elements to step into the arena.
Architecture
The arena is very large, and round in shape. It is a relatively new structure, standing around 3-4 stories tall. Inside the arena has seating on all sides, with a lower section closest to the arena reserved for privileged guests. Strong wooden beams stretch forward to provide shade over the mass seating.
The central fighting ground is an austere smooth stone. It is said with the assistance of Clan Orebeard the arena is modified to suit any encounter.
