Tiefling

Touched by Magic

No one is really sure whether the tieflings were originally human or another race entirely, least of all the tieflings. What is known is they are the result of one the Prime Gods' many experiments with magic. They appear mostly human in size and stature, but the magic left indelible marks on them. They have tails about four or five feet long that writhe or whip when they are excited or upset. They also have horns that can take a variety of shapes; some tieflings have large curling ram horns, while others' curve gently back or stand tall and straight. Their canine teeth are prominently sharp, and their eyes are always solidly colored black, red, white, silver, gold, or blue. Their skin tones have the same coloration of humans, but also include shades of red, blue, and purple with hair colors in the same spectrum.   Tieflings' minds have also been affected by magic. They carry a small innate casting talent, but they are also prone to madness. Delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, mood swings, and incoherent speech are painfully common among this people.

Standing Alone

A constant reminder of the pain and chaos the Prime Gods caused, tieflings are often mistrusted at best and outright shunned or even attacked on sight at worst. So, they tend to live in isolated, self-sufficient communities, usually as far from others as they can be. Sometimes this can exacerbate the psychological symptoms they endure and leads to unique and even bizarre cultures that can differ wildly from one community to the next. Those who do make their living among others tend to do so in cities where they can hide in plain sight among the bustle and excitement of urban life.
