Elves are enigmatic. Usually human-like in appearance and demeanor, they can take different shapes at will. While some choose to interact with humanity, others are content living and interacting with the part of existence that is inaccessible by mere mortal humans.
Elves have an indefinite lifespan, but cannot bear children. They are not immortal, and can be killed. As such, their numbers are probably (according to current theories) declining at a slow but steady rate. They exist in lines; extended families that at the most encompass around a thousand members.
