The Wizard - Chapter 1

The Weapon
A butterfly came through the window and stood there, the child stopped poking at the crystals on his body to admire the beautiful colors of its wings, it could go anywhere but It was here why? 'Stand up straight it's time!' They said while busting the door open and guiding the child out of the room. He did look back just in time to capture a glimpse of the butterfly leaving by the window.   'At least you are free,' he thought.   Walking fast through the corridors everyone is staring, what is it in their eyes? Whatever It is It bothers Albert, It's as if something was wrong.   His aunt is so stressed out for some reason, his uncle walks without any sign of her enthusiasm. Finally, we are at the big door, it's carved with symbols and precious stones, it opened with no sound, looked so dark on the inside. Checking his surroundings as usual Albert looked back, but the huge door was already closed shut.   'Lord Frederic we are here with the Phoebe family.' said a weird looking guy, with his voice echoing.   What seemed to be a shadow, started leaning forward. 'You have five minutes.' said the dark silhouette with glowing eyes.   The aunt had a deep breath and proceeded. 'Thank you lord Frederic, I'll be short, I have gathered as much knowledge as I can and used it to create a weapon, which will greatly increase our pressure in Alcaeus Hiltrud’s colonization and we are here to present it to the council.'   The uncle pushed Albert to the front and everyone watched in silence, his aunt them pulled his robe off, showing pulsating mana veins which started from his wrists where the crystals were implanted, his arms had writings of all kinds.   'Poor child.'   'blasphemy!' said others in the room.   They Gasped! but Frederic stood in silence.   'As you can see Albert has been successfully infused with mana crystals, he has also been thought more than I know myself, he has been travelling with mentors from all over the world and uh -’   'what's your name?' said Frederic.   Albert stood silent for a second, his aunt's Lucretia piercing eyes made him talk.   'Err Albert, Lord Frederic'   'Do you feel pain, Albert?'   'Yes, all the time sir uh, lord.'   'It's impressing to me that you haven't fainted yet'   'He manages It really well my Lord, He-' With a simple gesture from Frederic, Lucretia knew she shouldn't say another word. His golden eyes moved from her to the child's bright veins.   'Albert, come closer.' he said and then proceeded to put his hand on Albert's face.   That was odd but Lucretia have seen that move before during executions. She couldn't watch, the others at the council became completely silent, then a whipping sound took the room followed by sparkles. Frederic's expression changed quickly, why was the child still alive? He was being stared by Albert's vividly colored eyes from in between his fingers.   'I'm sorry to disappoint my lord, but that won't kill me.' said Albert, with a dark tainted face as if he had been in a fire.   The elementalist lord of the country removed his hand from the child's face in silence. Most were in shock at the failed execution.   'What is this?' he said.   'This is our weapon.' said Donavan, Albert's uncle.   'You should be the ones being executed for keeping such secrets from the council and proceeding to create such monstrosity! said Frederic with his eyes glowing like a wolf's during the full moon. He took a deep breath and continued.   'This "weapon" you mentioned it's now mine and It will only exist for as long as It proves It's worth and remain useful.   ‘You! there’s more than one way to die, I was trying to give you an easy way out of this and trust me I’ll find what you are made of, “Weapon.” He said it in a ferocious tone towards Albert.   ‘Now, when It comes to you two there will be consequences, my guards will now escort you.'   Albert looked at his family not knowing if he would see them again, they were calm as if they expected it. As soon as they left the room became filled with chattering, people wanted to know more. At distance Frederic was talking to a human whom was wearing a heavy and shiny armor.   He was carrying a short sword and shield covered in silver and gold, the lord pointed at Albert.   ‘You come with me kid.’ said the knight approaching Albert. With his arms around the young one's shoulders, he guided Albert back to his room and left.   Albert found the interaction very unusual, that human sounded so kind, and treated him as a person at last.   Fresh air came from the window, would the butterfly ever comeback? He felt alone in his room.   For his entire life Albert always had someone to receive orders from, he would eat only when they said so and so on,  what do I do now?’ He sat down silently in his bed.   Memories of his rough trainings would haunt his mind, the scars scream like voices in his head, demanding extra effort.   ‘Don't you dare to faint!’   Sweat and blood in his eyes, difficult to see the old elementalist whom just shouted, the crystals were aching from the excessive usage of magic.   It's been days, suddenly everything became bright white and hot, ‘a fireball?’ no time to think, she attacked again, Albert waved his hand and deflected it, only to be caught by a second one. In the floor, he was numb and couldn't move any longer.   ‘Is dying what you wish? In a real battle, death you would meet, you're lucky’ said the woman while throwing flames next to him.   Hot became cold and all started to fade away...   There it was, the butterfly at the window, looking at the mirror he realized the ashes in his face, Albert washed it and waited for hours until a knock in the door came out of all the silence, it was the knight again.   ‘it's time for you to meet the others kid,’ following lead Albert to a dining room filled with soldiers of many different classes but mostly humans. They sat at a table and everyone freaked out   'hey captain is this the freak that we are going to test in the field tomorrow?’ said woman carrying a staff.   ‘why in the realm of Kalpanaki does he has bright lavender eyes? It's so cute’ screamed a halfling girl.   ‘you're so pale! are you dead like a vampire?’ pointed out a cleric.   ‘I'm sorry kid, they will get used to you soon enough, you don't have to answer but I also have a few questions myself, how long have you been in Bast Satomi?’ Finally stated the captain.   ‘So, yes... I'm am the freak and I don't know why my eyes are like that or what race I am, But I don't think I'm a vampire, I'm actually from Hartmut, but I've been learning from all over the world, err what else? Oh... I've been here for a few months, I was living in a small village away from the city, training with Lorem’ Albert could barely finish before being interrupted by the lady carrying a staff.   She put her hands on the table while standing and screamed ‘Lorem the elementalist?! Listen freak, who do you think you are? Even better! Who do you think we are?! You should be bowing to us, not here sitting with us, we are leaders of each of Bast Satomi's native classes and here you are lying to our faces how dare you?’   ‘He survived a killing blow from our Lord Frederic, so I don't think he is lying Patricia.’ said the captain.   ‘What? Lorem was Lord Frederic's master, I dream to even be in the same room as her! If what you're telling is true, there's something really wrong going on here sir.’
