Kalaria 9

Kalaria 9 is a world that's been untouched by human or alien invention for millenias. Its different species have evolved independently for long enough that there exist many different kinds of species on the planet, all with intelligence and feeling but with different ancestors that barely have anything in common.   The species' of inhabitants are largely separated by each other (due to the different environments each of them need to survive) but in the current 300 years there have been a number of movements towards a united planet.   While most of these species are trying to find a life together, some of them are more concerned about what might be an imminent threat: outer space. Despite their different, very high developed kinds of technology, barely anyone has tried to invent systems for space travel. This has led to an almost cultural fear of the unknown, and especially of space, that only few try to conquer. Everyone, and especially every species, acts out these fears differently. Some ignore it completely, others want to build defense system for an inevitable arrival and possible attack of species from outer space, and only very few try to overcome their fear of outer space by exploring the very limited part of it that is in imminent reach of the planet's surface.
