Session 50 Report

General Summary

After visiting the Opaque Prism, the party found themselves under attack by an old man who had charmed Hyrlam. Bastien realized, by a strange effect of its illusion, that the "old man" was actually a Rakshasa - a fiend of the Nine Hells. This Rakshasa has been sent after them and tried to get away with the bag of holding that contained all of the runes. The group battled the creature, with Bastien landing the killing blow. Bastien knew that this meant the Rakshasa would be only sent back to the Nine Hells and focused on getting revenge on specifically him. It would take a while for it to regain its body, but can only be defeated completely if killed in the Nine Hells itself.
Hyrlam, causing some damage to a nearby enchanting shop (Opaque Prism) with a thunderstep, paid off the shop keep Spimila Mulwell (Female Gnome) with 400gp to keep quiet before the guards arrived. The group also picked up a small bag the Rakshasa dropped when they dissipated.
Being seen by locals, but not yet by the guards, the group ran off to hide at Rookle's Revelry - where Hyrlam has stayed before. The party is introduced to Hyrlam's friend Miasie Rookle - owner of the tavern/inn.
After welcoming and talking to Miasie a while, the group went into the back room to start planning on how to steal the Rune from Dau Mursk. Puck returned with the visage of Dau, which Dariah used to let the group see who they were after. He also made note that the mansion had a large area of the house that seemed magically protected in some way, but he wasn't sure how.
Before going to the theatre, the party looked into the bag that the Rakshasa dropped. Inside was some money, 2 soul coins, and 6 small folded pieces of parchment. 4 parchment pieces having one of their faces and names, another with Owlivia's name and face, and a sixth with a message stating to return the runes to an address in Lorinth. Ferrus was able to discern that the address is for the building next door to the Adventuring Guild headquarters.
