Sword Sanctums

The Sword Sanctums are almost a holy ground for many warriors that use swords. They are places of learning, training, worship and competition all at once. Based in two of the harshest environments in Kailustria, the Rebbavere Desert and the foot of the fire mountain; Iggliv, swordsmen and swordswomen are trained to be able to fight in all conditions. The Southern Sword Sanctum is the first place someone seeking to master the blade must conquer. Completing your training there makes you one of a small number of Sword Saints who are considered to be masters of the sword. Sword Saints are wanted deeply by the Council to both train their soldiers who cannot afford to go the the Southern Sword Sanctum and to increase their military might. However, most Saints become adventurers seeking glory and enough renown to earn the special attention of the Sword Emperor and be invited to the Northern Sword Sanctum. The Northern Sword Sanctum is the only known settlement in the North belt of Kailustria and is home to the few experts of sword fighting. The Sword Emperor resides here and trains only those with potential to be their successor. How these successors are chosen is unknown but is theorised that only those with potential rather than sheer skill are chosen. Once a pilgrimage is made to the Sanctum then one is bestowed the rank of Sword King after crossing swords with the Sword Emperor. The exact training that takes place in the north is unknown apart from the fact it is brutal and at times deadly.
