Well, there are mentions of a small settlement between Trisza and the Savage Divide, but nobody has really seen it.— Ernist Vonleu (High Archivist)
Estin is rumored to lay partway between Trisza and the Savage Divide and is located on the edge where the Burram Woods and the Darguay Plains meet. Described in history books as a lively resting spot for traders whilst they travel the Darguay Roadway, but in recent history the city seems to have disappeared. Occasionally there are rumors of the town still existing, but whenever people go and explore, the city seems to never have existed in the first place.
Architecture
The town is surrounded by a wooden palisade with two gates across from each other on the west and east side, connecting Estin with the Darguay Roadway. Inside the buildings are generally small and quaint looking, all made from wood. On the north side, still within the walls, there seem to be some houses missing that now have been replaced with small crop farms. In the middle there is a square with a well at the center, along the sides there is a small inn, called the Silent Outpost, a general store and some other small shops, but these don't seem to be open. South of the main square there is also a small temple to various gods and a small blacksmith.
Demographics
Estin has a pretty good mixture of different ancestries within it's tight knit community. All common ancestries can be found, but uncommon ancestries tend to not be present in the community. Overall the people look quite poor and there does not seem to be a big distinction between rich and poor. Most people work in farming or manual labor, with a handful dealing with running the inn and the stores.
Curse
Unknown to both the outside world, as well as to most people within Estin, it isn't really the case that Estin has fully disappeared, but more that Estin is only allowed to be visible between dusk and dawn. This curse is placed upon Estin by Levanya, a hag who lives in the east parts of the Burram woods, after the inhabitants of Estin encroaching on her territory without heeding her warnings. In the end Levanya cursed the entire village to exist in the shadows, unknown to the world.
Travelers can see Estin if they are around the area after dusk, the citizens are happy to receive visitors and act if there is nothing wrong with the place. When outsiders wake up after spending the night in Estin, most often they have forgotten about the existence of Estin and remember that they spend the previous night camping along the road.
What happens if a town person decides to leave? Do they have the same curse as the village - or are they flat out not allowed to leave? The curse is a really interesting thing. It's sad that no one remembers spending the night there. :(
Thank you for the comment. That is definitely something to think about :)
