Z'ankala

Demographics

Z'ankala consists almost entirely of Bateans, however a few Tasgens, Alemins, Thumissians, and Galadelians do live there. Z'ankala is not known for being very divided by class, and many people pool their wealth together in order to survive the harsh northern conditions. The majority of the population has professions in fishing and mining.

Industry & Trade

The mining and fishing industry are key in Z'ankala. They have to import grains and vegetables from southern areas. They are one of the few towns in Batea that sometimes imports food from Alemi (trading commenced in 1015). Many Z'akalume hunt wild animals when food supply is low.

Geography

Located in one of the farthest north points in Batea, Z'ankala is a part of a rugged, freezing tundra. It resides on the west coast of Batea, looking out onto the sea that divides Batea and Kilim Dolet. In the summer, snow still remains on the ground, and little bits of plant life can be found peeking out of it. It only peaks at around 20 degrees Celsius in the heat of summer, and it can get even colder than -30 degrees Celsius in the winter. As one goes more and more south of Z'ankala, more evergreen trees can be found building into a forest.

Natural Resources

Many minerals have been found near and north of Z'ankala. Being on the coast of Batea, the fishing industries remains strong. There are also many blacksmiths and skilled builders in Z'ankala.
