ONUEMT - Batean Magic School Systems / onk'a nun uz'enel'k'a mag' tshetshume

Batean Magic Schools are one of the few things in Batea that are funded by the government. They are often attached to museums that contains old magical items and relics inside of them.   ONUEMT is an organization that manages and plans curriculum for Batean Magic Schools. All of the schools must have a generalized magic course, but most also have specialized courses as well. The largest course is for military magic training with the most attendees in total. Only two very small schools have no specialized military magic training, which are Mit'a'tima' and T'es'k'sa.

Courses

General/Mixed (Tshetsha Uzuzi) - This course contains elements of all the other courses. All schools have at least this course, and it is the most respected one. The minimum required Magic Rating is often 15, but it is usually higher. It is a 4 year course.   Military (Arinta' f K't Zisalat') - This course is used for training soldiers in using magic, specifically using Arrintays. It also teaches non-magic things, such as fighting. Military training is usually only a few months to a year, with a minimum Magic Rating requirement of 12.   Healing and Medicine (Sev'z'lat') - This course specializes in healing and medicine. Most doctors train with this course. It is a 4 year course with a minimum Magic Rating requirement of 16.   Trade and Potions (Ref't' Tshetsha) - This course is focused on teaching fancy magic that can be sold to and used by the general population. It is a 2 year course with a minimum Magic Rating requirement of 15.   Gahadelian Medicine (Sev'z'lat' Ga'ad'te) - A relatively newer course under ONUEMT, it was added in 936. Since magical properties of Gahadelian Tshetsha are slightly different than Patean Tshetsha (especially in healing magic), this course is for Gahadelian healing and medicine. It is also a 4 year course but with a minimum Magic Rating requirement of 18.

Religion and Its Influence

Religion is very important in Batea, and ONUEMT once made sure that there are mandatory religious study and classes at their Magic Schools. It was deemed important that those study magic don't succumb to bad influences. In 989, Mit'a'tima' Tshetshume School dropped its religious classes, and ONUEMT did nothing, causing a lot of controversy and protests from religious figures and regular citizens. Lepel' Tshetshume School did the same a year later, its headmaster saying that these classes were a waste of time and that he trusted that his students were properly educated.

Branded Women (Kez'sh'vaf')

Women usually don't get accepted into school as often as men do, and are for the most part held up to much higher standards. Women as seen as the weaker and less competent sex in Batea. Kez'sh'vaf' women/Branded women have been accepted into magic school since at least the 600s, history gets a little bit blurry due to Tila Pate's book burning. Since most other schools don't accept women as frequently, the schools of Mit'a'tima' and Lepel' have a balanced or slightly higher amount of women accepted into them.

Housekeepers (Shiga)

It is highly stigmatized against Shiga joining any Magic schools in Batea. They are supposed to stay at home and take care of the family. There have only been 4 shiga to attend Magic schools as their rite- since Giashi Pate.   1. Esatash' Semi in 1006 at Giashi Tshetshume School. She specialized in Trade and Potions and graduated successfully.   2. Tuz'sh'a Aleren in 1007 at Giashi Tshetshume School. She had specialized in Trade and Potions, but her priest had later deemed it unacceptable that a houskeeper was attending a magic school. He gave Tuz'sh'a an option to change her rite from Shiga to Kez'sh'vaf' or leave the school. Tuz'sh'a decided to leave, not wanting to face the stigma of rite-swapping.   3. Luntsh'a Mok'o in 1011 at Mit'a'tima' Tshetshume School. She was in a general course, but was expelled in 1012 after trying to free a Dalgysume soldier from a local prison.   4. Atshi Sonel' in 1012 at Mit'a'tima' Tshetshume School. Her whole ordeal is pretty complicated, and I think it could potentially maybe make an interesting story to tell but idk.
