1 Gastric (Extinct)

Name: Gastric   Descendant of: A simple microscopic free-swimming muticellular animal.   Description: A simple animal that secretes a slime trail and uses crude muscle cells to undulate it's underside almost undetectable from an outside observer, making it move extremely slowly. It has no nervous system, all movement is chemically signalled reflex. Detecting certain organic materials will make it's underside folds secrete digestive juices. These folds also soak up the digested remains. It's underside folds can be seen clearly through it's body from above. It is very tiny.   Reproduction: Produces both eggs and sperm from pores in it's back. Fertilised eggs become sticky embryos which latch on to sand or rock, before becoming the flat slug-like shape of the adult.   Food: Deposited organic detritus, microbial mats   Ocean Locations: None Land Locations: 3 (Coast)   Temporal Range: Age 0 - Age 4
