Hit Points (HP) represent a creature’s overall vitality a blend of physical endurance, toughness, and the will to keep fighting. They measure how far a character is from death at any given moment.
When a creature takes damage whether from Combat, magic, traps, or other sources their Hit Points are reduced, never dropping below zero.
A character’s maximum Hit Points are determined by their level, class (or multiclass combination), and Constitution modifier. You can easily calculate your HP using our ( https://dndhpcalculator.com/ ). As characters gain levels, their maximum Hit Points increase, making them tougher and more resilient in battle.
When a character’s current HP falls to less than half of their maximum HP (rounded up), they become bloodied and suffer a Wound.
A few key details:
If a character’s HP is ever reduced to 0, they suffer another Wound and are considered dying. Unless stabilized with a successful Medicine (WIS) check or healed above zero HP, they must begin making Death Saves each round placing them in grave danger of death.
