The Tumult

The Tumult is a group founded and ran by a Jidrern farmer, at least until his death. It deals mostly in debt collection and 'the labor trades', or slave trade.
What started as a need for cheep labor expanded over the years to providing others with said labor.
They tend to gain 'laborers' by buying their dept from others, and from taking in children with no other place to go. As people die pretty easily in the wastes, children of The Pile get swept up if they aren't taken in by others quick enough.
They've also been known snatch up children that wonder too far from their parents at Railrunner stops.
This group is very at odds with the Children of Glass in The Scorched Hollow.

History

It started when, then simple farmer, Olav Beadon found a child in the wake of the The Railripper Incident. He brought the kid back with him on a whim and raised to do the farm work.
After a few years he got into debt with some pirates and traded the kid to get out of it.
This struck an idea in him, now that he had to do his farm work himself, and he started to form what is now The Tumult.
The original founder died at the start of the bug war and the group is now run by his successor.
