The Voidblast
The Voidblast is the site of the last major battle of the Sorrow War. There the gathered might of Sorosia, Waltusk, Torben, Tealand, and the scattered survivors of other defeated nations who used to dwell in the lands now called Midrealm and the Chaoslands made their final stand against a massive wave of the Silverlands Ascendant forces. Little is known about the details of the battle itself, only that it peaked when a massive discharge of void magic created a detonation that killed the majority of the forces fighting there. Following this was an equally massive surge of chaos magic that warped the land, the shockwave racing around the world and causing widespread madness and amnesia. It is said some people became entirely different people, others switched personalities with those close by to them. Others became sadistic madpeople, and wandered the world in demented, unbridled ferocity. The Allies are recognized to have been the official “winners” of this battle, as the Silverlanders began a full retreat, withdrawing all forces from their footholds in Ivaria. But it was also a heartbreaking loss of life and culture. This battle was the turning point, and ultimately led to the surrender of the Silverlands and the beginning of the Restoration.
The Voidblast today is a wasteland, with strange creatures roaming its rolling hills and glowing plains. Few who journey there ever return. The Void Rangers patrol its edges, protecting and warning the people of Sorosia from the horrors that sometimes wander in from the region.
