The Old World
At first, drifting in astral nothingness, were the three timeless beings of Law, Ballance and Chaos, and the everflowing chaos of etherium. From their influence birthed the nine archia, each constructing their own home land in the astralsm, populating them with the Prime gods. When the forces of etherium grew too unstable and formed limbo, the gods of Law constructed Mechaira to ballance out the planes and protect the world from collapsing. With the construction of the great clock, time had dawned, and hence the mortal plane of Isus came into existence. The Nine Archia took the helm of constructing Isus, imparting each of their elements into the world. The old world was whole, there was no shadowfell, no feywild, nor elemental planes. It was on this old world that the creatures of the new world were born and later seperated during The Great Sundering.
Creation Myth
The old world is, as denoted by Aleiran theorists, the time of the creation myth. The creation myth differs from species to species, religion to religion, but there are three main beliefs that most align with; the Dwarves, Humans and Elves. Most creation theories across Aleron are, by and large, the same, but with varying details. The most popular belief system, under followers of the Nine Archia and Prime Gods, was that most of the geographical creation occured at the hands of the gods of neutrality, to later be populated by the gods of law, and corrupted by the gods of chaos. With the construction of Meciarah and the dawn of time, the material plane manifested in the realm of neutrality. First, Talos, God of Storms and Thunder, shielded the realm with a great, swirling storm, to protect it from astral corruption. Next, the lands were formed by Eena, Goddess of the Sea, and Venir, God of Forests, brought to these lands nature. Ythella then birthed onto the world the first mortal beings, animals. Collectively, the Prime Gods all came together to forge the mortal realm, ready for sentient creatures to walk it. The three first sophonts that stepped foot on the Old World were Humans, Dwarves and Elves. Weteus gave the primates the gift of humanity, who would establish great nations in the name of their god and sew order and society across the lands. In general, Dwarves were the arichects, humans the founders of society, and elves the shephards of man. The gods of Chaos were untrusted during the creation of the world, either monitored by the other gods as they imparted their elements in the world, or prevented from acting on the world entirely. One god that was prohibited from touching the mortal world was Myksis, Goddess of Destruction. Her sons, Gruumsh, Gorlag and Garekk were angered by their mother's exclusion from the mortal world, and so to please her, layed waste to the mortal world by bringing to it Orcs. Orcs were agents of Destruction, ready to destroy that which Humans, Elves and Dwarves created and dearly defended.Destruction of the Old World
Odon, the God of Knowledge's daughter, Trysta, Goddess of Divination, came to him with harrowing news; a cataclysmic event was coming that would spell the end of the world, and the collapse of the universe into chaos. Odon took it upon himself to find the cure to this appocolypse, but to do so he would need to inevitably destroy himself. Odon explored every single version of reality, through their infinite timelines, scouring each possible world to uncover every truth the universe had to offer in an attempt to uncovering an escape from the world's fate. However, some feats are even too much for a god to pursue, for living through an incomprehensible number of immortal lifetimes, Odon was destroyed by his quest. His death was not free of consquence, however, for Odon's demise ripped through Talos' storm and fragments of himself decended down into the old world. These fragments of his mind contain secrets of the universe itself, of dark tidings to come, or great powers and fortune uncoverable. However, the corpse of a god falling onto the world brought with it dire consequences, for a tear was created in the sky that would allow etherium to seep into the world, which spelt the beginning of the Old World's downfall. Following the death of Odon, and the instablity of the world, Talos' storm collapsed and swept the lands of the Old World. Amidst the raging storm, giants were born as great titons of the elements. The three largest fragments of Odon that landed in the world evolved into Tiamat, Bahamut and Melmok, the three draconic deities. The Giants and Dragons were named Titons, and were a great threat to the world, as their divine creation (albeit unintentional) gave them immense power. To protect the world from their wrath, Viridian, god of Nature and the Wilds, created Treants - great oaken guardians that would protect the nature of the world. Each titon brought to their world their own creatures to serve and worship underneath them, and each wages war on one another to assert dominance over the world at the expense of the Humans, Dwarves and Elves. As generations passed and more changes and adittions were made by the god, the tear left by Odin's fall grew in size, until eventually, the sky tore assunder and etherium begun to flood the old world. Chaos and corruption run rampant throughout the world, and with the end times rapidly approaching, the gods prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the mortal realm. The Great Sundering
The Great Sundering was the last great acts of the gods that forged the world as we know it. It destroyed the old world, and brought the new worlds into existence. A complete reset, the Great Sundering was a necessary act to protect the entireity of Isus from being wrought with chaos and instability at the hands of the unrelenting etherium. Ultimately, the Great Sundering was the seperation of the material, fey, shadow and elemental planes of Isus, in a bid to stop the world from succumbing to chaos.Remove these ads.
