Gnomes

"Grobbert Von Bubbleboiler Brewdick, your alchemy is unparralled, but I will have to stop ordering from you if you don't stop making all your potions giving me extreme, magical, gas, its really embarrasing" - A letter from a dwarf to a great Gnomish Alchemist.
Distantly related to Dwarves, Gnomes are fellows of endless facination and admiration for the world, and their enthusiasm with life reflects in their demeanor. With a mysterious connection to the Fey and Etherium, a Gnome's enthusiam is translated through their chaotic nature. Like their dwarven relatives, Gnomes have a facination with shiny things mined from deep bellow, with many settling around and with dwarves in great mountainscapes. A Gnome's natural affinity with etherium makes them notoriously powerful weilders of magic for their small stature, being the only race that Dwatbes readily trust for magical endeavours.

Physical Traits

Gnomes stand smaller than dwarves, roughly half the height at 2 to 3 feet tall. Their build is unique, similar in shape to dwarves, but with larger heads, longer arms, bigger feet and smaller legs. Much like dwarves, Gnomes are distinctly hairy, however they strangely have pointed ears, unlike the rest of mankind. Gnomes draw from their natural etherium to fuel their extended lifespans, living to 300, even 400 years. A gnome matures slowly, reaching an adult stage at the age of 30, but rapidly reach an elderly appearance relative to their lifespan at 150.

Society and Culture

Playful Jokesters

Gnomes are born pranksters with a keen sense of humor. Gnomish humor differs from that of humans, favouring playful pranks, inconveniences for others, and gobbledegook language. Nothing fills a Gnome's joy more than an inventive prank, often paired with a unique invention. Gnomes are also fond of nonsensicle, funny sounding words strung together in absurdist ways. A Gnome's humor may not be understood by all other folk, but their laughter and jovial nature is known to lift the spirits of other species, or irritate those at the brunt of the joke.

Religion

Homelands

Gnomes dwell with other species, rarely controlling a nation or city on their lonesome. Because of this, Gnomes are found few and far between, but most cities will have a few wandering about. Gnomes are much more commonly found around dwarves, due to their close relationship. Gnomes favour mountainous areas where they can mine up treasures galore, or living in woodlands where nature's bounty spells great opportunity for adventure.
