Physical Traits

Dragonborn possess a regal and imposing presence, standing slightly taller than the average human, averaging around 6 feet and 5 inches in height. Their build is typically broard and strong, akin to the immensity of their draconic ancestors. Although they share an upright, bipedal stance with humans, their striking, draconic features set them apart. The most distinctive aspect of Dragonborn is their scaled skin, which showcases a vibrant array of colors, each reflecting their distinct draconic lineages. While most Dragonborn lack wings or tails, some are known to exhibit the further draconic physical features. Such is a sign of a Dragonborn more connected with Draconic Spirits.

Dragonborn Subraces

Dragonborn society differs under three different main subraces, the regal and proud Royal Scales, the fierce and unyielding Chroma Scales, and the ellusive travelling Nomad Scales.

Royal Scales

Royal Scales are a among the most regal and proud of Dragonkin, noble by nature. They are most commonly found immersed into communities of other races, and are renouned for their diplomatic and stewardship skills. Rolls of court justiciars and even positions of grander power are frequently entrusted into Royal Scales. Royal Scales are typically descendants of metalic dragons, hence bearing a stronger bond with the likes of humanity and elven kin.

Chroma Scales

Fierce warriors with a desire for power, Chroma Scales are the descendants of chromatic dragons, and they share similar ambitions of wealth, power and control. Chroma Scales come from generations of dragonborn that stayed close with draconic overlords, and often times serve a dragon king or queen. They are renouned warriors, known for being most in touch with their draconic heritage. Despite being often times attributed to aggresion and even sadism, a Chroma Scale is a worthwhile ally for their skills with sword and shield.

Nomad Scales

In a world where they are seldom understood and often times feared, Nomad Scales instinctively gravitate toward one another. Their society is organized into tight-knit clans, typically adopting a nomadic way of life. Amongst nomadic clans is a deep sense of unity and kinship. Loyalty to one's clan is paramount, and Dragonborn of this ilk prioritize the needs and welfare of their clan above all else. These nomadic clans often traverse the untamed landscapes of Aleron, forging their own path or following roaming draconic overlords.
