Arides

Arides is a large province to the west of the Great Mountains that houses the prosperous human empires of the Haethelcyne culture. Decendants of Draconic Worshipers, Arides is renouned for its imperialistic nations that rise and fall, constantly fighting over who sits atop the Dracanwulf throne.

Geography

Arides has a warmer climate then much of Aleron from the heat of the southern channel. Much of west Arides is largely savanas, with deserts and badlands the further south you go. The northern eastern regions house prarie grasslands beneath coniferous mountain foothills. The southern border between Arides and Virthwood is a dense, muggy marshland.

Wandermere

Wandermere houses the Arides capital, Dracanwulf, and is the central hub of the Haethelcyne culture. Much of Wandermere is grasslands, with wide open deserts and praries spanning hundreds of miles.

Durmouth

Durtmouth is the Northern county of Arides, littered with farmlands that stretch across the Acrrington River. The capital of Durmouth is Talonridge.

Everwich

Everwich is the eastmost county of Arides that borders the great mountains. Much of Everwich is covered in a blanket of coniferous forestlands, and hence Everwich is the main lumber supplier for the rest of the country. The largest settlement of Everwich is Mournstead.

Tuketu

Tuketu is a large stretch of badlands in the cente of Arides, housing the tribes of the Tuakahn folk alongside numerous Haethelcyne mining cities. The capital of Tukety is Artswick.

Falforte

Falforte is a largely reinforced mining county, governed throughout history by both Dwarves and Humanity. Faversham is an outpost that defends the border between Kaltenze and Arides, and its proximity to the Great Mountains filled its underground with a bounty of minerals and ores. The captial of Falforte is Faverstadt, a reinforced mining city sat at the foothill of the surrounding mountains.

Corato

Corato is the southern Bayou of Arides, and the most diverse province housining many species of sophont. Besides the human nations, wood elves live among the trees from Virthwood, and lizardfolk settlers from Ebon Enclave live deep in the swampland. Corato houses the Mezzec ancestry of humanity, centered around the central city of Corato, Valencia.

Human Rebellion
Come the end of the Sundered Times, humanity begun to fight back against the Chromatic Dragons after the arrival of Metalic dragons to aid their cause.  

Post Bonding

Metalic Age
in the first few years of the First Era, the remaining Chromatic Dragons were either slain or chased away. For a few centuries, the Metalic Dragons oversaw Arides' independance. Travellers from Kaltenze begun sprouting bustling cities and settlements that ruled alongside Metalic Dragons.
Ældwyrm Founding
The throne of Dracanwulf was established for the first time as a human led country by Queen Adelaide, beginning the Ældwyrm Dynasty which united the thrones of Dracanwulf, Durmouth, Falforte and Everwich.
Rise of Aethelguard
Come the end of the First Era, the Ældwyrm Dynasty was assimilated into the Great Empire of Man.

Return of the Chromatic Dragons
During the Second Era, the Ældwyrm Dynasty fought alongside the Empire of Man, but without the guidance of the Metalic Dragons that fled Aleron to avoid the great conflict. Halfway into the War, the Second Coming of the Chromatic Dragons swept the lands. Once again, the country was conquered by Dragons, led by the vicious Red Dragon Servon the Maneater. Arides would be led by Servon for the next few centuries.

Dragon Wars
Throughout the dark ages, Arides was fraught with draconic conflict as great beasts battled with their enslaved humans to gain control over the Dracanwulf throne.

Second Human Rebellion
During the Third Era, humanity once again overcame the Dragons, defeating Servon the Maneater. For the majority of the Third Era, Arides was fragmented and united into its various kingdoms.  
Highreign Sovereignty's Establishment
The Highreign Sovereignty consumed the country, and for the first time the entire country was united by one throne.  
Arrival of Firearms
The start of the Fourth Era brung with it the invention of gunpower and hence, firearms. The country quickly fought over control of mining endevours to collect gunpower and manafacture firearms.  
Arides Rebellion
A few hundred years after its establishment, a rebellion would collapse the throne, plunging Arides into lawlessness with no leader.

Inhabitants

Arides has a large majority of Humans that live across the country, more so than the human majority in Kaltenze. The predominant human cultures are that of the Haethelcyne and Tuakahn folk, with people of the Monteverde ancestry down in the Corato bayou. The eastern edge that borders the Great Mountains has notable concentration of hill dwarves that have assimilated into human culture. Alongside the other species, halflings are commonly found in the milder areas of the country. The southern marshes of Corato houses wood elves that travelled from Virthwood, alongside reptiran and velik settlers from the Ebon Enclave and Bahturab coast. Historically, dragonborn have been found across the country, particularly during ages of draconic control.
