A curse and a prophecy

Ayalis Orki - An alternate Earth reality

Jasmine P. Antwoine

Lysuma closed her eyes and inhaled the green steam that erupted from the vase in front of her. She opened her arms and bent her body with her chest towards the sky. She began to hum an ancient incantation. Barely audible at first, it grew into a buzz as many of the orki people mirrored her gesture. The sound reverberated across the field. This was the way of apologizing of the children of A’Su.

Lysuma cried. She knew that what was about to happen will send her people into exile for hundreds of years. The Goddess decided to banish her children because of their disobedience. The defiance of Bit Kharyz and his followers had cost them dearly.

The Goddess spoke to her children:

“Nine hundred years will pass and then another nine hundred and then another nine hundred, for you have all defied me for three times.

And then a great hunt will happen. The Palahai will turn against you with all their might and you will be scattered and defeated and your memory all but lost.

Ninety years will pass and then another ninety and then another ninety, for you have all shamed me for three times

You will become tools and toys in the hands of the Palahai and your lives will weight no more than a feather.

Nine years will pass and then another nine years and then another nine years, for you have all stepped on my bleeding heart for three times and did not hear me cry.

And you will cry and bleed and suffer as I did, and hear my voice for the first time and repent your deeds.

This is your punishment!

But after another nine hundred months and ninety months and nine months you will finally be reunited and know brothers and sisters, for I love you dearly, my children. And I will send my dearest child, Dor’Da, the one that is two, to liberate you from your bonds and take you to your new Istari to live in peace and harmony until the end of days”.

Oh my goodness, so harsh and so sad. It never serves to cross a god, no matter how much they like you. I read your other WorldEmber articles so I think I've pieced together what went down, but it might help to include that kind of information in the sidebar. Even just a list of links would be useful, especially if there's a particular order in which to read the articles so that the story makes the most sense. If I have the math right, was this curse laid in the year -1155?

From The River to The Ocean, a civilization grows up.
